Anita Woods (RMHCI)
Anita Woods is a second-career counselor who spent 36 years working in purchasing for large corporations. She transitioned to counseling because she loves to help people and feels called to serve women, children, and families.
She is a master’s-level graduate counselor and a Registered Mental Health Counseling Intern (RMHCI), and Anita is pursuing her PhD in counseling education and supervision. Both in the school system and in private practice, she has worked with children, adolescents, and adults. Her specialties include womens’ issues, anxiety and depression, grief and loss, trauma, and marriage and family issues, including separation and divorce, blended family challenges, marriage and premarital counseling (SYMBIS certified), and parent and child attachments and relationships.
When you meet Anita, you will experience a warm conversational environment where you will feel heard and cared for. Her approaches include cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), narrative theory and genograms, and, one of her favorite approaches, mindfulness. She will take the time to hear your story and approach your counseling journey individually and informed by your past.
When Anita is not working with clients, she likes to be outside digging in the dirt, gardening, and enjoying nature. She has been married for seven years, and she has an adult son and new daughter-in-law, adult stepson, and a college-aged stepdaughter. An empty-nester, she happily dotes on her 12-year-old Yorkie-poo, Nike.
