The Team

Carolina Gleaton, RMFTI (Registered Marriage and Family Therapist Intern)

Carolina has always loved speaking and connecting with people, and would often wonder about ways that she could serve others in a meaningful way. When a professor at Florida State University encouraged her to become a therapist, she realized it was what God had intended for her to do, and she studied psychology with relational therapy as her objective. After graduation, she completed a Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Valdosta State University, and she is currently a Registered Marriage and Family Therapy Intern (RMFTI) in the State of Florida.

She has a background in working with children and their families. However, she also counsels adults as individuals or couples, and she is pursuing a Gottman certification for marriage counseling. Her practice pulls from solution-focused and narrative approaches to therapy, giving clients the space to explore and express what challenges they are facing, as the experts of their own lived experiences. Then, she guides them toward empowering solutions.

Carolina is also trained in trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, and she is equipped to help clients begin to build a more hopeful foundation for their lives. She is a Christian, and she is happy to bring a faith-based element into her therapy if clients desire it. Otherwise, she is also comfortable counseling outside of a religious context.

Originally from Tallahassee, Carolina and her husband David have built their lives together, going from FSU to Valdosta, and now to Jacksonville. They love to work out, enjoy delicious foods, go to the beach, and attend concerts together. Relatively new to the area, she is open to your suggestions for enjoying our beautiful city to the fullest.

She is mostly available on Fridays, though she will have additional flexibility starting in the spring. Carolina is also open to working with clients to find a mutually beneficial time to meet outside of her regularly scheduled office hours.
