Helping Your Teen Feel Heard, Steady, and Ready for What’s Next
Counseling for teenagers in Jacksonville Beach. Practical support for anxiety, low mood, ADHD-related struggles, school and friend stress, and family tension, so your teen builds real skills and you don’t have to figure it out alone.
We are currently accepting new teen clients.
You’re Not Shut Out. You’re Looking for the Right Help.
Parenting a teenager can feel like the rules changed overnight. Outside voices like friends, social media, and school pressure often seem louder than yours. You may see anger, withdrawal, anxiety, defiance, or a teen who “won’t talk,” and wonder what will actually help.
You don’t need a perfect plan. You need someone who can build trust with your teen, give them practical tools, and keep you in the loop as a parent.
Faith-informed counseling is available if your family wants it. It is one option among our approaches, never a requirement.

What We Help Teens With
- Anxiety, worry, and social stress
- Low mood, irritability, or feeling stuck
- ADHD-related struggles (attention, impulsivity, routines, school follow-through)
- Anger, defiance, and conflict at home
- Self-esteem and identity questions
- Bullying, peer issues, and online pressure
- Family changes, grief, or hard seasons
- Spiritual or faith questions (when your teen or family wants that focus)
How Teen Counseling Works
- Schedule a consultation: Share what’s going on at home and school. We’ll clarify next steps and start matching your teen with the right clinician.
- Build trust and a clear plan: Your teen needs a safe relationship first. Then we set practical goals and skills they can use with friends, at school, and at home.
- Practice skills and see progress: Sessions focus on tools that carry into real life. Parents stay involved in a way that fits your teen’s age, comfort, and clinical needs.
Parents Stay on the Team
Yes, parents matter. Depending on your teen, that may include check-ins, parent sessions, or family work so communication improves and skills stick at home. We won’t leave you guessing, and we won’t force a one-size-fits-all model. Your clinician will talk through what involvement looks like for your teen.

Parent FAQs
Will I be involved in my teen’s counseling?
Yes. We want you on the team. Depending on your teen’s age, comfort, and goals, that can mean parent check-ins, separate parent sessions, or family sessions, always guided by what helps most.
Is this page for children or teenagers?
This page is for teenagers. For younger kids, see our counseling for children in Jacksonville Beach page.
Do you only counsel teens?
No. Living Well is a full counseling practice serving adults, couples, families, children, and teens. Right now Kate, Tessa, and Leslie have openings for new teen clients, so families can get matched sooner.
Is counseling for teens “play therapy”?
For teenagers, counseling is usually conversation- and skills-based. For younger children we use play-based and age-appropriate methods. We do not advertise certified Play Therapy credentials.
What if my teen doesn’t want to come?
That’s common. Many teens warm up once they meet a clinician who listens without lecturing. A consultation helps you decide how to invite your teen and what to expect early on. You may also find ten warning signs your teen might need a counselor helpful.
