Paul McCord has been a coach and teacher for over thirty years, helping thousands of men and women to reach their goals. As a NCAA and NFL athlete, Paul earned academic all-America honors and signed contracts with the Dallas Cowboys and Baltimore Ravens. He went on to help lead the Ravens to their Super Bowl XXXV victory over the New York Giants as a special teams assistant coach. His NFL coaching career included stints with the Jacksonville Jaguars and analytical consulting work with the Buffalo Bills. His career winning percentage in the NFL postseason is amongst the highest all time (.833).
Paul also founded the men’s and women’s Division I lacrosse programs at Jacksonville University using his skills as a business planner, skilled coaching acumen, and recruiter. The women’s lacrosse program is the highest acclaimed team sport in the history of JU earning a 58-2 (.970) record against conference opponents and 15 championships while setting a number of NCAA records, including highest scoring team of all time. No other program in Jacksonville University history has earned 6 NCAA tournament bids in a span of just 7 seasons.
As a college football coach at Western Maryland (now McDaniel College) and Hofstra University, Paul helped lead both programs to a top ten NCAA rankings. The programs earned six conference championships and NCAA appearances in just eight seasons. The schools record in conference games was an amazing 46-9-2 (.811).
Coach McCord’s remarkable NFL and NCAA coaching tenure have earned his teams 21 conference Championships and one Super Bowl title in just 25 seasons of coaching both men and women.
Paul McCord is a sought after featured speaker with Fortune 100 companies like PepsiCo, small businesses and non-profit organizations like US Lacrosse, LGS, Carroll County Christian Men’s Prayer Breakfast, and many others. His background in business, sports, leadership, family development, and investing serve a variety of personal and corporate needs.
He has authored two books on special teams, one of which 101 Special Teams Drills, is the best selling football manual of its kind. He has also published A Complete Guide to Coaching Special Teams, an anthology of how-to-coach the art of the football kicking game.
Paul graduated cum laude from Western Maryland with a degree in history-education and concentrations in journalism and business. He went on to earn his MS in exercise science. Paul’s wife, Mindy, serves as the head lacrosse coach at JU. Their daughter Taylor was an all-Conference NCAA student-athlete and is currently a financial analyst.
